Both OPI and Essie have come out with their fall releases by now, and I’m playing favorites!
Fall nail polishes are the best. The warm tones, the muted shades, it all makes me warm and fuzzy inside. My entire polish collection is 3/4ths Essie, so I want to share these with you first. Above is the entire 2018 fall line, and I’m really digging most of them!
The Shades of Essie
If you recall from my post on spring trends earlier this year, purple is having a moment. And it continues into fall! “It takes a west village” is so pretty and wearable. If you were looking for a good mauve, this is it. “Stop Drop & Shop” speaks to me. This is my kind of fall shade. My fall polishes are comprised of versions of this color. It’s a purple-y, berryish color and it goes so well with everything.
“Booties on Broadway” it a true navy, but a little less my style. I have a navy already and I wear it occasionally, but it’s a bit much for me on the day-to-day of the office. “Fall for NYC” is unlike any shade I’ve seen in polishes. It’s really different, but I think it would be a nice addition for those that don’t like dark colors but still want that fall hue.
For me, “Say it ain’t soho” really steals the show. I’m not one for metallics but this is a beautiful copper! And metallics are definitely on-trend for nail art. Lastly is “Empire shade of mind,” which I won’t be adding to my collection. It’s a nice shade, but with my skin tone, silvers just don’t do much. I think an important point in style is to accept what you have to work with, and know that not everything will look great on you! But always remember that also means you can rock something better than others. 😉
These aren’t all available online for me to link, they really are the hottest shades of fall! Go to your nearest ulta or target and grab them before they’re gone.
OPI Goes Peruvian
OPI’s line for fall is inspired by the colors of Peru. This line is a little non-traditional in that it continues the along the path of brighter shades, which are actually closer to spring than to fall. Nevertheless, these are gorgeous colors! Again, purple makes a big splash in this nail polish release, ranging from lavender to berry.
OPI has released these culture inspired colors in their infinite shine collection as well as their normal line of polishes. They even made them available for gel! So next time you’re getting your mani-pedi, give one a try.
Oldies but Goodies
Now for my personal polish favorites! As I said earlier, my collection for fall is pretty much entirely Essie, and my favorites are ALL ESSIE! Their shades tend to fit my lifestyle much more than others. If you’re looking for even more nail polishes, check out my post that rounds up my favorite shades for the whole year.
