Hey guys! Today I wanted to share something a little more fun and different from my usual beauty/lifestyle posts. I’m bringing you 5 of my favorite cocktails! Anytime I have an event or host a party I try to pick a new drink recipe to make for the group.
These are all really simple and quick recipes that can easily be made in big batches. I’m going to give you the single drink recipe, and I trust that you can do the math and multiply. (A big ask I know).
But that being said, there’s an app I use to track all my favorite recipes that makes scaling portions SUPER easy. It’s called Allrecipes and it is a lifesaver. On top of scaling portions. You can input a url from your favorite food blogger and it automatically imports the recipe perfectly! No need to sit and type it out on your tiny phone keyboard. Now…for the recipes!
1. Big Girl Sweet Tea
- 1 1/2 oz. Citron
- 3/4 oz. Raspberry Liquor
- 1 1/2 oz. Sour Mix
- 1 Cup Sweet Tea (adjust to your liking)
I love this one for any occasion. It’s especially perfect for summer barbecue parties or anytime you’re outside in the heat. If you love sweet tea you’ll adore this! The raspberry and lime just make it taste like an amped up sweet tea with a kick. Play around with the amount of tea to achieve desired alcohol strength.
2. My Favorite Classic Margarita
Many margaritas have been turned into a sweet, syrupy drink that lacks flavor. It’s like a limeade with alcohol. Which is still good, but you know what I mean. Margaritas are like pizza. Bad pizza is still good. Good pizza is amazing. This recipe is like good pizza. Ok? Okay.
The secret is in the mix. A friend introduced me to Island Dave’s Margarita Mix and it is hands down the best I’ve had. This recipe is on the jug, so if you take anything away from this post, just buy the mix!
- 6 oz. Dave’s Margarita Mix
- 3 oz. Agave Tequila
- 1/2 to 3/4 oz. Orange Liqueur (if you like)
- Serve over a salt rimmed glass with ice!
If you end up loving this mix as much as I do, check out their website for more drink recipes!
3. The Perfect Mojito
The mojito is a classic and there are so many recipes out there. The basics are pretty simple, but I’ve tweaked this one a little here and there and found the secret sauce to making this perfect. I started using agave instead of simple syrup and it adds a touch of flavor that you just can’t get from regular sugar.
- 1 oz. Fresh Lime Juice
- 1 1/2 oz. White Rum
- 6 Leaves of Mint
- Soda Water
- 2 tsp Agave Syrup
Add your lime juice and mind leaves to the glass. Muddle your leaves to release the mint flavors. Add the rest of the ingredients and add ice.
After you master the basic mojito recipe, there are all sorts of variations! I love mango, and a mango mojito is amazing. (Also, isn’t it so fun to say mojjjiiitttooo?) Other tasty ones I’ve tried is using dragon fruit rum or coconut rum. Experiment with your favorite flavors!
4. Pink Grapefruit Moscow Mule
“Why is a Moscow Mule served in a copper mug?” “What is in a Moscow mule?” These are two questions I’d like to cover so that next time you order this drink you know why you feel so fancy with your little mug.
First of all, the Moscow mule was originally served in copper mug because it keeps it colder. The metal feels cold on your lips. It’s a whole sensation. The handle keeps your hand away from the mug and melting the ice. And the reflective copper keeps the sun at bay for summertime drinking. Some people believe that vodka reacts with the copper and tastes better. And copper might make the beer a little more bubbly. But all that aside, it looks super cute!
Second, the traditional Moscow Mule contains vodka, ginger beer, and lime. Now I don’t like ginger beer. I hate ginger. But this one is a pink twist on the traditional Moscow mule and I’m here for it!
- 2 oz. Deep Eddy Ruby Red Vodka
- 1/2 oz. Fresh Lemon Juice
- 3-4 oz. Ginger Beer
- 1 oz. Cranberry Juice
- Serve over ice and in a copper mug!
5. Painkiller
If you’ve ever been to Cheddars this is quite the drink. It comes in a massive bowl type cup and it’ll take your pains away! Be sure to give this copycat recipe a try…
- 2 oz. Dark Rum
- 1 oz. Cream of Coconut
- 4 oz. Pineapple Juice
- 1 oz. Orange Juice
- Sprinkle of nutmeg on top
- Serve over ice!
